This rare 5.5-octave Schiedmayer celeste works pretty well and sounds fantastic. Some of the lower notes need the pyramid felt (the felt beneath the tone bars) replaced, some notes need isolation tubing around the tone bar posts, and the instrument would also benefit from a regulation, but other than that it doesn’t need a ton of work. We don’t have enough time to put into it over the next few months and thus are selling it as-is, and it is priced accordingly (normally we would offer one of these for several thousand dollars more).
Although not from the exact same era (this celesta was built in 1919), it looks similar to the famous Schiedmayer celesta at Abbey Road Studios. Note that the lowest three notes on this celesta extend below the range of a modern Schiedmayer 5.5-octave Studio celesta.
